The UAE government has implemented several additions to their entry and residence permits: Golden Visa categories and Green Visa.

What is the UAE Golden Visa?

The UAE Golden Visa is a special visa that allows individuals from other countries to live and work in the country for up to 10 years. The government grants this visa to specific groups of people, such as

  • Investors

  • Startup Business Owners

  • Individuals with exceptional skills

Here are some advantages of the Golden Visa:

  2. Golden Visa holders are treated as UAE nationals, which makes travelling to and forth UAE hassle-free.

  3. The Golden Visa programme provides a welcoming and supportive environment for launching and growing new businesses.

  4. UAE is tax-free, and obtaining a tax residence certificate from the UAE allows investors and foreign nationals to avoid taxes in their home countries. All income and profits earned in the UAE are tax-free, providing significant financial benefits.

  5. Individuals seeking to retire in the UAE can also take advantage of the Golden Visa program's retirement option, as the high quality of life makes it an appealing choice.

What is the Dubai Green Visa?

The UAE Green Visa is a new residency visa that separates work permits from residency permits. It is valid for five years and aims to attract highly skilled individuals, investors, entrepreneurs, and top students and graduates. With this visa, people can sponsor themselves without needing to be employed by a UAE-based company.

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs (GDRFA) in Dubai provides eligible individuals with a 60-day entry permit to make the process more convenient, allowing them to come to the UAE and complete the necessary procedures to obtain their residency status.

Here are some of the benefits:

  1. If you meet the requirements for the Green Visa, you don't need a sponsor to apply for it.

  2. A Green Visa allows you to stay in the UAE for up to 5 years.

  3. Green Visa holders can sponsor their spouses, children, and first-degree relatives for residency in the UAE.

  4. An individual holding a Green Visa can sponsor children is up to 25 and unmarried daughters of any age. Additionally, there is no age limit for supporting children with special needs.

  5. The visa validity for family members is linked to the primary applicant's visa.

  6. Freelancers, remote workers, and investors can apply for a 5-year green visa in Dubai. Students and standard employees can apply for a 2-year green visa.

  7. You can renew your Green visa instantly for the same period when it expires.

Cost of the Visa

The cost of obtaining a Green Visa is AED 2,280. There is an additional charge of AED 575 for the ID card, and regular medical services will cost AED 320. The overall cost of the entire process may vary depending on the number of dependents under the sponsorship of the visa holder and the fees associated with their visas.

The Golden Visa will cost between AED 2,800 and AED 3,800 for applicants in the UAE but between AED 3,800 and AED 4,800 for applicants outside the UAE.

An eligible individual can apply for a 5-year Green Visa or a 10-year Golden Visa using an online portal like Federal Authority for Identity and Citizenship (ICA) app, the GDRFA-Dubai website, or by visiting the AMER centers in Dubai.

If an individual is outside the UAE, the government will issue a six-month entry permit, which can be extended for a similar period, to assist you in completing the necessary procedures for obtaining a Golden Visa in the country.
